An introduction to live coding real-time music and visuals for absolute beginners. No knowledge of programming required, only a desire to express yourself creatively!
During this 2-day workshop you will receive a crash-course into the exciting world of live coding – programming languages that allow you to create expressive algorithmic music and visuals live and in the moment.
You’ll learn to create electronic music and mesmerizing visuals, as well as different ways to collaborate with others and to share your work.
Topping off the workshop, you’ll have an opportunity to perform and improvise with code live as part of a livestream concert on Eulerroom.

This evening of performances will focus on embodiment through practices of live coding. The stage becomes a temporary site for experimenting with real time collaborative composition making: between body and language; words and flesh; the oral and the written — presenting an ecology of scores and scripts for movement to unfold and new relations to emerge.

This concert will explore the idea, "the future of music", by looking for the pioneers and artists who are pushing the boundaries of our musical understanding of live coding.
Curated by Felipe Ignacio Noriega, with invited artists: Shelly Knotts (UK), Kofi Oduro (Canada), Rafaele Andrade (nl_cl), Raphael Sousa Santos (nl_cl) and Robert van Heumen (nl_cl).
In light of recent global circumstances making in-person performances increasingly difficult for performing artists, we will present the first NL_CL / iii collaboration as a live streamed (un)concert.

An equinox is a day when the whole world gets 12 hours of sunlight. The March equinox marks the beginning of autumn in the southern hemisphere and spring in the northern hemisphere.
For March Equinox 2020 we will celebrate sixteen years of the TOPLAP live coding community with a nonstop online stream, over 20th-22nd March.
We as NLCL have a slot between 20h00 and 22h00 where we will perform and livestream our performances.

During this meetup we will look back on the performances, talks and workshops from the past ICLC in Limerick. We will also look forward to the Eulerroom Equinox livestream event in March, and probably discuss other upcoming events as well.
