@CCU. A weekend with workshops and a from-scratch session
Join us a weekend full of workshops on live coding music and visuals, and a from-scratch session!
On Saturday you will learn programming visuals by Niki Scheijen (Nikilia) with the Hydra Video Synth, and you will also learn programming music by Wilbert Vogel (Lil’ Bleep) with the Mercury playground. No experience required, just curiosity!
In the evening we’ll have a From-Scratch session together with the Netherlands Coding Live (NL_CL) community, where you can enjoy short 9-minute improvised performances by others, or if you already feel like it you can join yourself!
On Sunday we’ll continue with more in-depth workshops, during which you can choose what you would like to dive deeper into, making visuals or music.
Later in the day we’ll form duos, where you will collaborate with someone else from the workshop to try out making music and visuals together. And to close the event we’ll have our own From-Scratch session where you can show us your screens and first experiments in front of the other participants.

Both platforms, Hydra and Mercury, are open-source, beginner-friendly, browser-based live coding tools that you can run without any installation (besides a browser like Firefox). Hydra is made by Olivia Jack (https://ojack.xyz/) and is build around WebGL and Javascript. Mercury is made by Timo Hoogland (https://www.timohoogland.com/) and is build around ToneJS and the WebAudioAPI.
